August 29 - September 2

This week we are starting our second story in our reading program. We are going to be talking about how families from around the world are similar and how they are different. We are also going to be starting our first big writing project with a personal narrative. This should be an exciting week!

Open House

Today is our Open House! Please come by and see all the amazing things going on at Harrison this year. 

WELCOME BACK!

The summer is coming to an end. We are having our Open House on Tuesday, August 16, 2016. Please come and meet your students teacher. School officially starts on Thursday, August 18, 2016.

Summer Reading!

Please make sure that your student is reading at least 15 minutes a day. This will help ensure they come in close to where they left off in second grade and help prevent the summer slide. You may also want to check out the sight word PowerPoint presentations I have create to help improve your students fluency. 

Swimming!

Friday we go swimming. Please make sure to send your student with their swimsuit and a towel.

• We were reading about how to protect the earth. The story that we read is called The Art Project. - NoNo

• Mrs. Pauley’s Math Group
• We created math journals. We learned about money and we had to synergize with our partner.
• Mrs. Simson’s Math Group
• We did number talks. We also learned about story problems using money. - Maddi

Specials

• Today we had computers. At computers our class did stories, then we played games on the computers.  - Olivia

Writing

• In class today we worked on our writing and then on our AR. - Madison

Extra Information

• Today I saw Madison and Tayler picking up trash. - Braden
