Summer

Well summer has officially started!  Please feel free to check in every so often for some ideas on how to continue to improve your students reading and math skills at home as well as some fun ideas of things to do this summer.

This week

This week we are going to try and keep things as normal as possible. We will continue to do our work everyday the only major difference is that we won't be having homework. If you have any questions please let me know.

 

One more bit of information we will not be having spelling this week so you may notice that the lists have not change.

Summer Lunch

May 24th

May 24th will be a busy day for the second grade. We have our school picnic as well as our field trip to the YMCA City Pool. Students who ordered yearbooks will be receiving them on that day during the school picnic. If you have any questions please feel free to get in touch with me.

Swimming

We have our final fieldtrip on May 24, 2013. We will be going swimming!! The fee is $2.00 so if you could send your students money with them as soon as possible that would be great.

Student displays of arts and crafts

Ideas are photography, scrapbooking, sculpture, pottery, ceramics, baking, cake decorating, drawing, sewing, quilting, knitting, song writing, story writing, Lego building, woodworking, jewelry making, leatherworks, t-shirt design, calligraphy, painting, sock puppets, crochet, embroidery, building models, collections, stained glass, poetry, ribbon making, and lots of any other art and crafts you can think of.

Take math packets for your children to practice math skills over the summer…they will feel smarter in the fall!

Cultural story time
Listen to stories read by members of our community as they share their cultures with us.

Scholastic Book Fair in the Library

The book fair will also take place on May 3 and 6 from 8:15-8:40 am and 3:30-4:00 pm.
