We have our Christmas parties this afternoon. Please remember that if you have not done a background check you are unable to participate. Parties will start around 2:30.

Biome Project
We are working on a biome project this week. Along with creating a poster and writing a paper the students will all help to create a web page. The web page can be found at the following link. Please remember that this is a work in progress and we will be adding to it a little each day.

We have a popcorn sale on Friday, $0.50 a bag.
We will have early dismissal on Friday, December 12, 2014. The students will be out at 1:30.

Reading Changes
Starting this week we will start having a 5 day reading week. This means that we will test on Fridays. The students are now use to the testing and how our new reading program works so we feel that this would be a great time to start back into a 5 day week. This should be a fun learning experience for everyone. If you have any concerns that come up please let me know.

Leaders
We had our first quarter leadership assembly on Thursday!
It was led by the student leaders for September and October. We are so proud to have Matthew as the leader for the second grade!

It's November!!!
Wow it is November already! I can't believe we have made it through the first quarter. Thank you to all the parents who came to conferences. I love sharing how great your student is doing in class.

I am working on adding some of the students work. I know that you will be amazed at their work. They should all be up by the end of the day.
Parent Teacher Conference Week!
We have a very busy week ahead of us. This week we will be writing personal narratives. We will also be having our first field trip. Our field trip will be to the pumpkin patch so please make sure to send your student with their tennis shoes and a coat. We also have our Halloween Party on Thursday. Please send your student with their costume. They will change after we get back from our field trip.

We are in the middle of a short week!
We are still working hard at making sure a lot of learning is taking place. This week we will begin a week 4 of our new reading program. The weekly concept and skills we will be working at can be found here.
Over the next few weeks we will be setting up parent teacher conferences. Please be on the look out for your time when they come home next Friday.

It is our first five day week! We will be working hard this week so keep an eye out on Friday for all of your students amazing work.
Book orders are due on September 19, 2014, and can be ordered online using the classroom code GMNHV. The books will come to my class and I will deliver them to your student.
There is no school on Monday, September 15, 2014. This is a teacher work day so enjoy the long weekend.

Summer is coming to and end.
As summer comes to an end I wanted to take time and put up the calendar for the coming school year as well as information about our school.
The office will open on Monday August 11th.

Amazing Kids!
We talked earlier in the year about how to help our community. The class decided to start saving money to give to the school. Today we gave the library $20.73 so that Mrs. Hall can get some new books, this way we would be able to help the whole school. She then asked the students what books she should buy, and they had some great suggestions. I am so proud of the wonderful kids in my class. This was a great way to end the school year.

This Week
This week is a normal week for the students. We don't have much going on this week. We do have our field trip next week, and it does cost $3.00. If your student hasn't paid please do so as soon as possible.
Thank you for the wonderful door for teacher appreciation week. It means a lot to have such great students and parents.

January 13 - 17
We will have a half day on January 17th. The students will get out at 1:30 for the end of the quarter. We will try and keep things as normal as possible the rest of the week. We will be on Unit 3 Week 5 in our Wonders Program. I also want to let you know that the students took the IRI this week and did amazing. I am so proud of the growth they have made this year and I know they will continue to make for the rest of the year.

Welcome Back!!!
I hope your vacation was wonderful, but it is back to work for your student. We do have school this Thursday and Friday. We have a full week after that and then Friday the 17th is early dismissal. The students will get out at 1:30 that day. The following Monday the 20th there is no school for students.
We are talking about helping out our community and the students have decided that they would like to raise money for our school. This was the students idea and will continue until May. If you would like to donate change to the class please send it with your student. I also want to say I am so proud of how giving and selfless your students are. They took this idea and started bringing in money on their own. In 4 days they have already raised over 7 dollars.
